Associate Music Director & Conductor, Ryan Gastonguay
Born and raised in Prescott, Ryan Gastonguay is delighted to be appointed associate conductor of the Prescott Pops Symphony. He began performing with the Pops when he was a sophomore in high school and was studying with Larry Conrad at the time (former Phoenix Symphony principal). He attended Arizona State University on scholarship and studied with Dr. John Ericson graduating summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in music performance in 2007.
Besides the Pops, Ryan has performed with the Phoenix Symphony, Arizona Opera, Mesa Symphony, Arizona Winds and Verde Valley Sinfonietta among others. He also performs in various chamber ensembles including the Thumb Butte Brass, Park Avenue Quintet and Prescott Chamber orchestra – which he has soloed with several times. Ryan contracts many of the professional orchestras that perform with various ensembles in Prescott including the Prescott Chorale, Yavapai College Master Chorale, Broadway musicals and holiday shows. Ryan also has a passion for choral conducting and is the assistant director at Trinity Presbyterian Church.
Outside of music, Ryan worked as a member concierge for the American Automobile Association from 2012-2016 and as a Patron Loyalty Specialist at Yavapai College Performing Arts Center to the present. Besides playing the French horn, Ryan is an accomplished pianist and enjoys singing with his barbershop quartet, Sunday Afternoon.
