Support the POPS
Dear Friend of the Prescott POPS Symphony:
The 2017-2018 Concert Season is filled with birthdays and anniversaries, not the least of which is our own 25th remarkable season performing for Prescott area residents. What a pleasure it has been! In case you’re interested, some of the music we’ll be playing this season dates back over 200 years (patriotic sounds that will make you proud). We’ll also end the season with some surprise Toon Tunes, and hey – did you know Bugs will be 78 and Porky will be 83!! Wow they look great.
On a more serious note, it is a fact that as a non-profit, we are constantly striving to accomplish our mission and continue doing what we love…playing for you! To that end, we wanted to give you an early opportunity for your organization to get involved. How? We need your help to achieve our ambitious goals which means we’re looking for YOUR support!
A little about us…
The POPS Symphony was created in 1992 by local musicians to provide an opportunity for them to participate in performances of light-hearted orchestral music during the summer when other musical groups were not active. It was first incorporated as a non-profit organization in May of 1996 as the “Prescott Summer POPS Symphony.”
Over the years, attendance and ticket sales for POPS concerts tripled. In response to popular demand, in 2006-2007, the POPS dropped “Summer” from its name and became the “Prescott POPS Symphony,” moving from primarily two summer performances per year to five larger productions performed throughout the year, including in each season a major musical production with a chorus and renowned soloists. The POPS continues to provide quality performances at low ticket prices for the community, to support youth musical growth and involvement, and to provide ample opportunity for participation by the areas’ talented musicians.
The POPS’ mission is threefold: 1) to educate, enrich and entertain audiences of all ages by providing accessible, affordable, high quality symphonic music, 2) to encourage youth involvement in music through participation, donations, and scholarships, and 3) to provide an opportunity for local musicians to participate, through rehearsals and performances, in a challenging, inspiring, and dynamic musical environment.
During its 25-year tenure, the POPS has performed over 100 concerts for appreciative Yavapai area audiences. We are also very proud to have given out over $115,000 in student musician scholarship money and grants to our local school music programs. The symphony performers range from 50 to 80 local instrumentalists and 40 to 60 vocalists at various concerts, plus guest soloists and conductors. Membership always includes from 12-25% youth participants from area intermediate and high schools. In addition, over the years, the POPS has partnered with other performing and support groups such as the Prescott Chamber Orchestra and Yavapai Symphony Association.
For the orchestra to continue its mission and realize its goals, it will require funding from the local community. Please help support this excellent orchestra and foster live music in our community by becoming a Donor, a Sponsor, or by advertising in our concert programs. You will not only be supporting the orchestra and its goals, you will also be showing your support within the community.
How you can help…
There are five primary ways in which you may contribute to the Prescott POPS Symphony:
1. Individual Donations 2. Advertising in our Concert Programs
3. Corporate Sponsorships 4. Volunteering 5. Planned Giving
We sincerely hope you accept our invitation to be a part of the Prescott POPS Symphony. Know that you ARE making a difference and that taking part in bringing music to our community is not only rewarding in the short-term, but will help perpetuate it through our children in the future.
Thank you for your consideration.
