Kate Howell
Vocal Soloist
Kate Howell spent many years as a professional actress, singer, and musician based in NYC and Chicago. A longtime member of Actors’ Equity Association, she has performed at regional theatres across the country, off-Broadway, at Radio City Music Hall, and on national and international tours. Favorite musical theatre roles of note include Eva (Evita – over 300 performances), Audrey (Little Shop of Horrors), Marian (The Music Man), Emma (Song & Dance), Cinderella (Into the Woods), Drood (The Mystery of Edwin Drood), Lalume (Kismet), Nancy (Oliver!), Graziella (West Side Story), Antonia (Man of La Mancha), Grace Farrell (Annie), Rose (Gypsy), Christine (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels), Marge MacDougall (Promises, Promises), and The Lady of the Lake (Spamalot). Locally, Kate has been featured as a mezzo-soprano soloist with the Prescott POPS Symphony, Yavapai College Master Chorale & Choral Union, Prescott Center for the Arts, Prescott Chorale, and Chaparral MusicFest. She occasionally serves as a vocal coach, workshop instructor, piano accompanist, and judge for artistic competitions.
Mauricio Perusquiara
Vocal Soloist
Mauricio Perusquia, baritone, is a rising performer with recent performances including Zazueta in Zorro with Arizona Opera, Papageno in The Magic Flute with Arizona Lyric Theatre, Escamillo in Carmen with Chandler Opera, and Guglielmo in Così fan tutte at FIO Mondo in Italy. He performed with Arizona Opera’s OperaTunity Program, bringing music to Phoenix-area schools, and participated in El Paso Opera’s Curbside Opera Initiative. Mauricio has performed in new works like El Paso Opera’s Frida and Arizona Opera’s Silent Night, as well as standard repertoire such as La Traviata and Il barbiere di Siviglia. He holds an MM in Opera Performance from Arizona State University.
Chad Millar
Vocal Soloist
Chad Millar, tenor, began his opera career at the age of 9 singing Amahl in Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors. He holds an undergraduate degree in Music Theatre and a Master’s degree in Vocal Performance Opera from Arizona State University. He is a Metropolitan Opera Arizona District winner and was a young artist at the following companies: Santa Fe Opera, San Francisco Opera, Arizona Opera, Dayton Opera, and Ohio Light Opera. Chad has worked with numerous orchestras for concert work including the Australian Classical Players, the San Francisco Symphony, the Phoenix Symphony, the Tucson Symphony, the Utah Symphony, the Prescott Pops, the Prescott Chorale, Arizona Music Theatre orchestra, and the West Valley Chorale. He was a member of the tenured full time San Francisco Opera chorus for a number of years and covered and performed numerous roles during his tenure. His roles include Belmonte from Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Ferrando from Cosi fan Tutte, Ramiro from La Cenerentola, Lt. Pinkerton from Madama Butterfly, Tonio from La Fille du Regiment and many more from Bach to Britten and everything in between. He recently performed as the tenor soloist in Beethoven’s Mass in C, Elijah, the Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem, as well as several Bach cantatas. He has also done the following music theatre roles in recent years; Val Jean in Les Miserables, Charlie in Brigadoon, Henrick in A Little Night Music, Mr Andrew’s in Titanic, and Archibald Craven in The Secret Garden.
Francesca Herrera
Vocal Soloist
Soprano Francesca Herrera’s superpower as an artist is her storytelling. Coupled with her warm, sparkling voice, her captivating stage presence takes the audience along with her on every journey. She is an advocate for opera and classical music’s longevity and rediscovery. She hopes to continue to bring the music of underrepresented composers to the forefront and connect with her Latin heritage through any opportunity possible.
