PhilipDixonPhilip performs regularly with numerous music organizations throughout Arizona and is thrilled to be singing again with the Prescott POPS Orchestra. In April he was in performance with the Sedona Conservatory for the 275th anniversary of Handel’s Messiah and with the Prescott Chorale in concert as soloist for Mozart’s Vesperae Solennes de Confessore this past May. He will also be performing again with the POPS later this month in the concert, “The Music of Rodgers and Hammerstein and Andrew Lloyd
Webber”.

In other recent performances, he was excited to be in Stephen Sondheim’s masterpiece, Into The Woods at Yavapai College this past Spring. Also with the YC music department, he has portrayed Dr. Neville Craven in The Secret Garden and played PoohBah in Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Mikado. He has also appeared as concert soloist in YC’s performance of the delightful Mass of the Children by John Rutter and has performed regularly as the Bass soloist for YC’s semiannual productions of Messiah since 1999 and in numerous productions with the Master Chorale, Choral Unions, and other groups with Yavapai College. Last Fall, he had the opportunity to portray Aeneus in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneus with Prescott’s Camerata Singers.

In other theater productions, he had the fantastic opportunity to portray one of his all-time favorite roles as Inspector Javert in the Prescott Center for the Art’s notable production of Les Misérables. Also with PCA as music director, he helped produce of The Grapes of Wrath in which he also portrayed The Man with Guitar in the “Grapes of Wrath Orchestra.”

Other selected performances and accolades of note: Finalist for San Francisco Opera’s Merola Program; Various roles and productions with the Arizona Opera Company; Studied voice with the renown singing teacher, Jane Randolph (San Francisco Conservatory of Music); Soloist in Bach’s Bminor Mass with the Prescott Chorale; Had the distinct honor of singing the National Anthem in a men’s ensemble at the memorial service for the Prescott Granite Mountain Hotshots; Soloist in the Arizona Premier of René Claussen’s Memorial, under direction of James Klein, a work commissioned by the ACDA to honor the victims of the 9/11 disaster, performing also in Europe, on tour with Prescott’s Master Chorale; Aeneus in Dido and Aeneus with the Phoenix Bach Choir; Soloist in Mozart’s Great Mass in Cminor with the Phoenix Master chorale; Bass Soloist for Messiah with the ASU Symphony after an open Phoenix-wide audition; Soloist with The Phoenix Boys Choir, and the Master Chorale of Flagstaff; Soloist with numerous choral groups in Prescott, Phoenix, the San Francisco Bay Area, Southern California, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas and other venues across the US and Europe.

Philip also enjoys playing his Martin guitar and singing with his wife Allison and friend Warren Miller in their “roots music” ensemble, WPA.
