The Yavapai College Performing Arts Center, in keeping with its commitment to bring accessible arts entertainment to the community during this time of highly restricted public gatherings, is presenting an ongoing program entitled “Yavapai Live” featuring local musicians through the magic of streaming video. To support this program the Prescott POPs Symphony organized a dedicated concert called “We Need A Little Christmas” with thirty-three musicians from the POPs roster which was videotaped before a live audience, observing all of the recommended precautions. The performance will be available for viewing via the YCPAC website on December 6, 2020 at 3:30 pm and again on December 10 at 7:00 pm.
Although somewhat shorter than the traditional POPs Christmas concerts, Maestro Joseph Place has put together a delightful program of instrumental and vocal favorites to set a festive mood for the holidays. Among the highlights of the program you will hear Kate Howell lend her beautiful soprano voice to the ever popular “Angels Among Us” to be followed shortly by “Believe” from “The Polar Express” featuring tenor Michael Nasche. Popular instrumental selections include “Bring A Torch Jeanette, Isabell”, and Bach’s “Sheep May Safely Graze”.
Christanna Rowader-Josker joins the orchestra for a beautiful rendition of the ever popular “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” and the orchestra features Darrell Rowader in a performance of “O Holy Night”. Of course, no POPs Christmas program would be complete without a rousing performance of Leroy Anderson’s “Sleigh Ride”!
