Tenor David Britton has enjoyed a versatile career as an established chamber musician, opera and concert singer, musical theater artist and teacher. David has performed as a soloist with many of the country’s leading symphonies including The New York Philharmonic, The Boston Symphony Orchestra, The Chicago Symphony, The Philadelphia Orchestra, The Washington National Symphony and The St. Louis Symphony. Abroad, he’s soloed multiple times with the National Orchestra of France, The Israel Philharmonic, The Montreal Symphony, The Toronto Symphony, The Mexico City Orchestra and the Hamburg Radio Orchestra.
He is tenor soloist of the renowned Bach Aria Group, and has appeared as a guest solo artist with The New York Pro Musica, Antiqua, The Waverly Consort and Musica Sacra. Opera appearances have been with The Juilliard American Opera Center, The Metropolitan Opera, The New York City Opera, The San Francisco Opera and The Santa Fe Opera.
His festival appearances include Mostly Mozart at Lincoln Center, Aspen, Grand Tetons, Spoleto (Italy) and Caramoor. He’s been soloist under the batons of Daniel Barenboim, Charles Dutoit, Leonard Bernstein, Leonard Slatkin, Antal Dorati, Zubin Mehta, Pierre Boulez, Raphael Frübeck de Burgos, Gerard Schwarz, Helmuth Rilling, Raymond Leppard and David Willcocks. As a recording artist, he can be heard on the Angel, EMI, Musical Heritage and Voce labels. His university teaching credits include The University of Southern California, The State University of New York at Stony Brook and presently, The Arizona State University School of Music where he is Professor of Voice.
He received his musical education at The University of North Texas, The Manhattan School of Music and The Juilliard School.
