In Support of Our Youth
With its intention to support youth involvement in music, over the years The Pops has contributed over $260,000 to local area intermediate and high school music programs for music, instruments, and uniforms. It has also contributed over $14,000 toward an endowment for music scholarships given to graduating seniors who have been performing with the Pops. In addition to scholarships and grants, a stipend to each student musician performing with the Pops is provided by the Acker Trust Fund.
Youth musicians are encouraged to join the symphony and always comprise from 10-15% of its performing membership.
To encourage family and youth attendance at concerts, tickets for 18 years of age and under are offered at the low price of $5.
There have been studies that clearly state that children who are exposed to arts education at a young age will in fact do markedly better in their SAT tests.”
